Hatha Yoga: Yoga has simple and effective body movements that strengthen the back, firm the stomach, and redistribute body weight. Yoga exercises stretch and tone the body. Endurance and flexibility are also enhanced. Asana (yoga postures) brings about deeper awareness of body, mind and soul.  With stress relieved from the body, the mind becomes calmer and ready to focus. This becomes a fertile ground for meditation.

Iyengar Yoga: Iyengar Yoga is meant for all and is a way of life. The use of props such as wooden gadgets, belts, ropes and bolsters helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in any asana. Regular practice of Iyengar Yoga definitely helps integrate the body, mind and emotions.

Flow Yoga: In this style of yoga, through carefully balanced sequence, the breath, form and movement are integrated. This creates a practice that is in harmony with our physical body. By invigorating the entire body, strengthening its weakest link, releasing internal knots and building up stamina, there is an increased energy, vitality and sense of freedom. This allows one to realize their True Nature.

Restorative Yoga: focuses on deeply resting and revitalizing the physical body by providing support and comfort. These poses help trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which is vital  for maintaining a balance in the body and bringing it into equilibrium.

Yoga Nidra: An investigative inner journey that takes the practitioner beyond limiting beliefs and conditioning, so that a contented life, free of conflict, anxiety, fear, dissatisfaction, and suffering can be lived. In its ultimate form, Yoga Nidra is used to unravel the sacred mystery of life and reveal the secret of enlightenment.

Yoga For Every Body: If you have a body, you can do yoga!
"Yoga for Every Body" is an Iyengar influenced class specifically designed for all body types. If injuries, weight, or lack of flexibility have kept you from yoga in the past, this is the class for you! The use of props such as blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps and chairs will be used to help the student experience the full benefits in each pose. Come let your body show you what it can already do!

Yoga Dance: Connect with your own inner vibration and move your body in a meditative dance with Tribal drum music.Everyone has their own creative energy just waiting to be manifested. Join with other spiritual beings in this sacred space and set your energy free to move where it wants to.

Zumba Dance: Zumba Class fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program. Zumba students enjoy long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!


SPECIAL EVENTS

Festivals: Every season and for various special events, The Yoga Darshana Center celebrates life and its changes by offering a night dedicated to song, poems, readings, music, and inspiration. This allows for opening of the heart.

Outings: Periodic visits are prearranged to the surrounding area by visiting museums, attending kirtans or drum circles. Sometimes an outing will bring us to a talk, a blessing, or a hug from a spiritually gifted Life who has traveled close to our vicinity.  

Half Day Retreats: Mostly offered in the summer, The Yoga Darshana Center gives Salutations to the Sun at Robert Moses Beach during sunrise; continuing at the Center with yoga postures, breathing and meditation. At noon we end with brunch. This helps intensify and deepens one spiritual practice.

Lectures: Lectures consist of educational, spiritual or inspirational topics, which include information about great lives, health, nutrition or yoga practices. Often included are documentaries or powerpoint presentations.

Song Night: This evening of praise embraces kirtans, songs, instrumentals, drums, and poetry. This sacred event deepens heartfelt devotion.

Movies: All movies are geared toward an inspiration to further one’s spiritual practice.
