Yoga Classes

Hatha Yoga

This special class incorporates Hatha Yoga poses at a slower, individualized pace. Working specifically with breath, alignment cues and hands on adjustments the student will gain a greater understanding of the poses and find strength and confidence.

Yoga for beginners

Experience simple and effective body movements that strengthen the back, firm the stomach, redistribute body weight, increase endurance and flexibility. This class will bring a deeper awareness of body, mind and spirit. With stress relieved from the body, the mind becomes calmer and ready to focus. This becomes a fertile ground for meditation and the journey beyond.

Vinyasa Flow

In this style of yoga, through carefully balanced sequence, the breath, form and movement are integrated. This creates a practice that is in harmony with our physical body. By invigorating the entire body, strengthening its weakest link, releasing internal knots and building up stamina, there is an increased energy, vitality and sense of freedom. A profound state of peace and relaxation is usually experienced.

Yoga Bliss

Activate the core, enliven the breath, stimulate the spirit, lengthen, tone, revive and awaken the body as you move into yogic bliss through a mix of Yin, Hatha and flow yoga.

Restorative Yoga

This style focuses on deeply resting and revitalizing the physical body by providing support and comfort. These poses help trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which is vital for maintaining a balance in the body. Crystal bowl sound healing, Reiki and essential oils are also used to deepen the restoration experience.

Yoga Mix

Yoga Mix combines the styles of Hatha, Dynamic and Vinyasa Yoga. The emphasis will be on alignment, breath, self-awareness and building strength. Yoga Mix also uses props such as blocks and straps to facilitate movement into the poses. This class is great for the beginner to the advanced yogi.

Yoga Nidra Meditation

During this practice, you will be guided through a meditative, deep relaxation sequence to release tension, stress and pain from your body so freedom can be experienced.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. It is a great practice for everyone. In addition to doing sitting and standing poses, or Asanas, the class will incorporate breathing techniques and ways of relaxation. Students will find that the practice deepens flexibility and strengthens personal body awareness. It is also a way to achieve physical and mental fitness.

Happy Hour Yoga

Give yourself the opportunity to unwind, let go, recharge and reconnect. Working through a series of yoga postures and meditation, we will clear the cobwebs, energize the body and reset the mind and spirit.

MAINTAINING REGULAR YOGA PRACTICE CAN PROVIDE PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS

Why should I practice yoga?

Students come to Yoga for various reasons. Many of them want to reduce stress, depression, fatigue, pain and to feel more connected, open and happy. Yoga practice can give you all of these things plus much more. The level of commitment will always determine the rewards one will receive.

What will I experience in a yoga class?

A typical class at Darshana begins with getting acclimated and grounded, followed with various yoga stretches and gentle breathing practices to open the body, create space and allow for a deeper sense of awareness. Each class ends with a blissful, deep relaxation experience

I’m not flexible, can I still practice?

Yoga is for everyone. At Darshana, yoga practice is not about standing on the head or twisting into a pretzel. Yoga is about connecting more deeply with oneself. It’s an inner experience. Regardless of age, size or limitations, yoga can be made accessible to everyone.

Yoga practice should feel good. Do what feels right for YOU & never push your body beyond its limits. Pain should not be felt in a posture. Honor yourself, listen to the body’s intelligence and know you can always skip a pose or ask the teacher for a modification.

What do I need for my first yoga class?

A yoga mat is like your personal magic carpet so it’s great to have your own. Yoga mats are also available at the studio if needed.

You may wish to bring a small towel & water bottle. Students are also encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out a new student form and settle in. You will be stretching so wear your favorite comfortable clothes.

Everyone’s dietary needs are different, however you may find that eating very lightly before class may allow for a better yoga experience.
